Boy, 15, dies after collapse at Oldbury school

A schoolboy has died after collapsing during a football match at his Oldbury school.

Fifteen-year-old Aidan Nisbett collapsed during the game at at Ormiston Sandwell Community Academy in Tividale.

Staff called emergency services at about 2.50pm on?Friday but he died later that day in hospital.

The cause of death is as yet unknown.

Tributes have today been paid to the teenager by school leaders who described him as a popular, hard working student.

Peter Bishop, principal of the school on Lower City Road, said: "Our academy community is devastated by the tragic death of Aidan Nisbett, a Year 11 student.

"Aidan was a keen sportsman and a popular, hard working student who will be deeply missed by all of us. We are working closely with counsellors to ensure that students and staff are looked after.

"All of our thoughts and prayers are with Aidan's family at this difficult time."

The academy has said it will be holding a celebration of Aidan's life with details to follow.

The school was due to hold a two minute silence today in his memory.
