Bail in Sedgley hit-run inquiry

A man who was arrested following the death of a 21-year-old man who was hit by a car in the Black Country has been released on bail.

The victim, named locally as Tom Cox from Tipton, had been celebrating his 21st birthday on Saturday night when he was hit by a car, about 200 yards from The Leopard pub in Dudley Road, Sedgley.

He died at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday morning.

The driver fled after the collision. A 21-year-old man later handed himself in to police.

He was questioned and has now been released on bail until a date in January.

Mr Cox was a former pupil at Willingsworth High School in Tipton.

Devastated family and friends have laid bouquets of flowers at the scene.
