The New Talbot Inn, Brereton, closed in October last year - despite undergoing a £180,000 refurbishment in 2009.

If plans are approved by Cannock Chase Council, the new nursery will cater for up to 50 youngsters.

Applicant James Hodson said: "The facility itself will provide a local facility for families in the area, particularly with its proximity to Hob Hill Primary School."

The kitchen area of the pub will be transformed into an office and baby room.

The bar area will be turned into a reception.
