Weston Hall is open again with a new look
Landmark Weston Hall opens its doors again tomorrow, when visitors will be able to see something old and most certainly something new.
The revamped Staffordshire venue has retained many Elizabethan features, including the open fireplace and oak beams, while giving a contemporary makeover. Carpets have been ripped out in the ground-floor restaurant, now called The Cellar, and sandstone flooring put down.
Elsewhere in the 16th century hotel, greys and whites have replaced the brown and pink decor, while chrome has been favoured over dated gold fittings.
Fresh curtains and bed linen complete the transformation which also takes in the kitchens, event rooms and the first and second-floor bedrooms.
It has taken six months of non-stop work to get the building ready. Now the wait is over. Heath Rhodes, spokesman for the new owner, Lichfield-based Mike Petrouis, said: "It's been hard work but I hope people will feel it's been worth it. The hall looks very different to what it was but people will still recognise many of its familiar features."
The hall had been closed since January when it left many couple, who had booked weddings in the lurch.
