Headteacher found dead at school near Stourport
A headteacher has been found dead at a Midland school, it emerged this afternoon.
Helen Mann, who was 43, was discovered at Sytchampton Endowed First School, in Sytchampton, Stourport, at about 4.20pm yesterday. Police are treating the death as unexplained but it is not thought to be suspicious.
Dr Stephanie Gait, chairman of the school governors said today: "It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of our headteacher Helen Mann.
"We offer our deepest sympathy to Helen's family, friends and colleagues. We have taken the decision to close school today and tomorrow and are working with the local authority to provide support to staff and pupils. Parents will be informed when school will re-open as soon as possible."
The Rev Peter Kerr, of St Andrew's Church in Ombersley, said: "She had come to the school fairly recently so I can't say I knew her very well. The whole community is in shock."
County councillor for Ombersley Maurice Broomfield said: "It is a terrible thing to happen. There will obviously be an investigation."
