The annual Festival of Remembrance, held at Wolverhampton's Wulfrun Hall, saw war veterans and civic dignitaries come together to pay tribute to those who had paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Many performances and readings took place throughout the three-hour service.

Children from Villiers Primary School in Bilston performed a number of songs, as did the Wolverhampton Orpheus Male Voice Choir.

The event also featured a full service of remembrance, a parade of standard bearers and music from the band of the West Midlands Fire Service and city organist Steve Tovey.

Ministers from St Peter's Church, including Rev David Wright, led parts of the service while the church's choir also performed. The mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Christine Mills, attended the festival.

She said: "We must never forget out fallen heroes. It's incredibly important to keep the festival going year after year."

Representatives from the Royal Marines, Royal British Legion, Merchant Navy, Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the Royal Naval Cadet Force were in attendance.
