Wednesbury vigilante in revenge bid is locked up
A vigilante who was "bent on revenge" armed himself with a 2.5ft machete and went on the hunt for a man who had knocked down his girlfriend in a car, a court heard. Ryan Pressdee took a group of friends with him, it was heard.
Pressdee, aged 27, of Pheoenix Rise, Wednesbury led the attack at a house in Latches Close, Darlaston, while the weapon was also held to the throat of a man inside the property.
Just minutes before, Pressdee's partner had been knocked down by a man driving a car on the same street, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told. Prosecutor Justin Jarmola told yesterday's hearing that the crash happened on February 26 last year. The victim suffered minor injuries and an ambulance was called, Mr Jarmola explained.
Defence barrister Oliver Woolhouse said his client was a hard-working man who had acted in a manor which was "very much out of character".
Sentencing Pressdee to 16 months in prison, Recorder Peter Cooke said: "For anyone brandishing a large machete in the street while bent on revenge, an immediate and substantial period of custody must follow."
