The battered moggy was scooped up by a good-hearted passer-by and taken to Pool House Veterinary Hospital in Lichfield for treatment.

She spent 24 hours in intensive care but pulled through and has now fully recovered from her ordeal.

The pretty tortoiseshell, nicknamed Sweet Pea by staff, was struck by cars near an island on Lichfield Road in Heath Hayes on October 18, suffering a collapsed lung. Deputy head nurse Danielle Pountain said: "She's very lucky that a kind soul stopped to help her. Ideally we would love her owners to come forward to claim her.

"She was wearing a collar so definitely belongs to someone, possibly from the nearby housing estate."
