Staff at Tipton Toddlers arrived at the nursery to find the alarm disabled, windows smashed and doors broken.

The burglars struck over the weekend and emptied bins, some drawers and cupboards and spilt possessions over the floor while they searched the premises.

Their haul included two computers, two laptops and a £750 charity collection for Marie Curie Cancer Care and Murray Hall.

The children had taken home charity pots for donations and had only returned them on Friday. Manager Lisa Checkley said: "It is just very sad that someone would do this to us."
