Hundreds attend tribute to murder victim Tom Kirwan
More than 200 people attended a tribute night in memory of murder victim Tom Kirwan who was knifed outside a nightclub after a night out.
Friends and relatives said the event, which was held at the ECC Sports and Social Club in Bushbury, Wolverhampton, on Saturday had been a huge success.
Mr Kirwan's fiancee Jade Elwell said: "It was a success. We were very pleased with the turn out and managed to raise a bit more money for the football team set up in Tom's memory.
"I am keeping strong and organising evening like this keep me busy and help me come to terms with the loss of Tom."
Miss Elwell, who intends to tour schools warning of the dangers of knife crime, continued: "It is important that people know about the heartbreak that can be caused.
"It is also vital to keep the murder in the public eye. It is a long and complex inquiry."
Money raised from the event will go towards funds for the Sunday football team set up in memory of Mr Kirwan that carries his initials and is called TK Wanderers.
The recently formed side started their time in the Wolverhampton and District Sunday League Division 6 by winning their first four league games. Miss Elwell formed the team, which plays in the gold and black colours of his beloved Wolves heroes.Mr Kirwan died after being stabbed outside the Uberra Club, inWednesfield Road, off Wolverhampton ring road on July 8.
Four men and one woman arrested in connection with the murder of the tragic 23-year-old have been re-bailed by police until January.
Three 18-year-old men from Penn, Warstones and Finchfield, a 19-year-old man from Merry Hill and an 18-year-old woman from Coventry were arrested in the weeks after his murder. All five answered bail last week and were re-bailed for another three months.
