Febian Brandy, Dean Holden and Andy Taylor took a break from training to help launch Number 92 Cherwell Drive.

They joined in the day of activities which saw dozens of families attend along with representatives from the police, fire service and housing agencies.

The community centre has been created out of a one-bedroom house owned by Walsall Housing Group. The centre will be used by local residents' groups as a place to meet, and by police for drop-in sessions.

Councillor Ian Shires, said: "There were no community facilities in the area, so we hope this will become a hub for all ages – a place where residents can meet for a chat, share ideas, and perhaps learn new skills."
