Walsall murder suspect still in custody
The suspect in a double murder investigation remained in custody today, as tributes were paid to the two victims.
Detectives have been granted extra time to question a 43-year-old man arrested at Holly Court flats on Walsall's Yew Tree Estate shortly after the bodies of a 69-year-old woman and a man in his 40s were found.
It emerged today both died of multiple stab wounds. The woman has been named locally as Pauline Woolley. The man remains unidentified.
Residents who have known Mrs Woolley for more than a decade described her as a "nice, quiet lady", while flowers were laid outside the Acacia Avenue flats.
A woman's body was found inside a flat, while the man was discovered in the grounds behind the block.
Senior investigating officer Det Insp Warren Hines said police believe all three people were known to one another. Police are not seeking anybody else in connection with the deaths.
Officers were called at around 1.30am on Saturday after a resident of the block of flats came across the male victim dead on the ground.
