Changes to top posts at Sandwell Council may save £262k
A restructure of senior managers at Sandwell Council, as part of the return of Sandwell Homes to local authority control, is being planned to save £262k.
The council has already approved plans to return housing services directly to their control.
And a new report says that three senior management posts will go and a new director post created saving more than a quarter of a million pounds.
The proposals are due to be approved by the borough's full council on Tuesday.
Sandwell's 29,000 council properties are currently run by Sandwell Homes, at 'arms' length' from the council in an agreement which was originally due to end in September 2014.
However, after the Government cut the Decent Homes programme of improvements, the council believes that money saved by returning the organisation to its control as soon as possible will mean more money for improving homes.
In August Sandwell's cabinet agreed to bring the management agreement with Sandwell Homes to an end and bring staff and services back under the direct control of the council.
It is now proposed that the senior management structure of the council is revised to reflect the return of Sandwell Homes to the council's control.
