Severn Trent Water wants to lay new pipes along Penn Croft Lane and Turf Cottages Lane East, in Wombourne.

Both roads are at the edge of the Common and a consultation document issued by Severn Trent reveals the company plans to keep access to the land open.

The work is expected to take place next year and will be done in 328ft phases, taking between six and eight weeks to complete.

Severn Trent spokeswoman Grace Marren said: "We plan to replace existing water pipes on Penn Common in Wombourne next year," she said.

"The water pipes on Penn Common have been serving the community for many years now, but they need replacing to make sure our customers can continue to enjoy a reliable supply of high quality water."
