Hundreds of mourners, including his mother Emer and fiancee Jade Elwell, first gathered at Molineux for an impeccably-observed 15 minutes' silence, outside where the 23-year-old had often cheered his beloved Wolves. The convoy travelled down Waterloo Road with one hearse filled entirely with floral tributes. A horse-drawn carriage, pulled by two black horses adorned with gold and black feathers, carried Mr Kirwan in a Wolves-themed coffin. Miss Elwell said: "He was such a big Wolves fan and so popular we wanted to give people the chance to pay their respects."

A banner reading "Tom Kirwan Live Forever" was carried from Molineux to St Peter and St Paul Church, in North Street, where 250 people attended the funeral. Mr Kirwan, from Oxley, was killed in July outside the Uberra nightclub, which is to reopen under its former name, The Canal Club.
