Hundreds of Stafford homes to be upgraded for £1.4m
Hundreds of homes in Stafford will receive upgrades in the next six months in a £1.4million improvement programme.
New central heating will be installed in 450 homes managed by Stafford and Rural Homes. The housing association is also carrying out 839 loft insulations by the end of March.
It comes on top of £7m of works in 2011/12.
Chief executive Karen Armitage said: "This year we have helped both our customers and the environment by spending £7m on improvements to homes.
"We have fitted solar panels to 228 homes and installed new central heating systems and loft insulation, meaning our customers are now benefiting from lower fuel bills.
"We want to continue that work in 2012/13 by installing a further 450 new central heating systems and 839 loft insulations to help more people heat their homes."
When completed the upgrades are expected to save tenants money on their energy bills. In another green initiative, Stafford and Rural Homes has announced plans for allotments.
