Crashes cause rush hour chaos in Wolverhampton
Motorists travelling through Wolverhampton city centre faced major delays today after two serious crashes during rush hour.
One woman was taken to hospital after a smash between a Carvers Building Supplies lorry and a car on the Ring Road St David's, near Uberra nightclub, blocking the bus lane.
Tailbacks were reported stretching along the Ring Road and out of the city following the crash, which happened shortly before 7.30am, with delays reported along the Cannock Road and the Wednesfield Road into Wolverhampton. Culwell Road was closed off to traffic as officers worked to clear the scene.
And drivers heading into the city along the A449 Penn Road were also hit by congestion after a car and van crashed near the Kia Motors dealership at around 7.15am, sending the car spinning into roadside railings.
An ambulance crew attended the scene but the driver of the car refused hospital treatment.
