A teenager killed in a car crash in Tipton has been named locally today as Ahlack Rehman, from Dudley.

He was one of six teenagers believed to have been in a car which struck a lamp post and wall early on Monday. The 19-year-old died in hospital after being flung out of the blue Vauxhall Corsa car, which crashed in Dudley Port Road, Tipton, at 12.40am.

Friends of Mr Rehman, a former pupil of Castle High School, Dudley, placed dozens of floral tributes at the scene of the crash. Some also appeared to be from relatives.

Friend Jibran Rehman, aged 17, said: "Akky (Ahlack) was a good lad.

"He was loved by everyone he knew. There wasn't anyone who had a bad word to say about him.

"He was about to start work at Tesco Express in Dudley. He was really looking forward to it. It's so sad what happened."

One of the tributes stuck to the lamp post, from a person called Aki, read: "Can't believe you're gone baby bro. You really have broken my heart. You have left without a goodbye. Can't ever forget you."

A Facebook page called 'RIP Akky Rehman 1 Feb 1993-10 Sept 2012' already has 653 'likes'.

Mr Rehman, was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

A second man was also treated at the scene for a facial injury before being taken to Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital.

Five teenagers, aged between 17 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, before being bailed.

Police are appealing for witness to the crash. Inspector Mark Watkins said: "A young man has lost his life in terrible circumstances, and we need to understand how this happened."
