Arsonists set fire to trees in a string of attacks in the Black Country.

Crews were called to seven separate cases of fir trees being set alight overnight.

Six of the attacks were in Stourbridge. The first report was in Mary Stevens Park at 9.44pm.

This was followed by cases in Avon Road at 10.15pm, Cemetery Road at 1.46am, Talbot Street at 2am, Birmingham Street at 2.15am and Stamford Road at 7am.

Another tree fire broke out at 4.30am in Albert Road, Halesowen, when a dog alerted its owner the 30ft conifer was alight.

Firefighter Steve Pougher said they were not linking the tree fires but said they were all started deliberately, aided by the dry weather.

"It's been a really busy night," he said.
