A murder inquiry was launched today after the body of a man was found in a Black Country park.

A murder inquiry was launched today after the body of a man was found in a Black Country park.

Police were called to Jubilee Park, on Powis Avenue, Tipton, just before 8am today following reports that a man had suffered serious injuries after being knocked down by a car.

The victim, understood to be a 58-year-old from Wednesbury, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are in the process of contacting the man's relatives.

Around 15 minutes after the man's body was found, police visited an address in Tipton and arrested a 50-year-old man.

He remains in police custody and is being questioned in connection with the death. Jubilee Park remained sealed off today with police officers at the scene.

Witnesses or anyone who was near Jubilee Park between 7.30am and 8am today is asked to contact police on 101.
