An Elvis impersonator is All Shook Up after winning his craft's world championship in Memphis.

Gordon Elvis wowed judges with four of The King's hits to beat 26 opposition entrants from as far afield as Japan and Canada.

The 28-year-old, who has been mimicking his idol since the tender age of four, moved from his native Malta to Tamworth and then Bilston three years ago to become a full-time impersonator.

He said that, having watched his performance at Memphis' Hilton Hotel back, he probably deserved his victory.

"It's not just about singing," Gordon said. "Some of them just got on stage and sung and had the jumpsuit on.

"But one of the judges said the reason I won was because, from the moment I walked on stage, I was Elvis – the movements, the look, everything. I was being Elvis."

He performed with a live band in front of a 250-strong audience, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Polk Salad Annie, I Can't Stop Loving You, and American Trilogy.
