Motorists will face up to three weeks of hold-ups on a major route after roadworks were announced today.

Western Power Distribution is carrying out improvements along Lichfield Road, Brownhills until the end of September.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place throughout the scheme, which is due to start next Monday between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

The electricity mains diversion work between Chase Road and Barracks Lane is expected to be completed on September 28.

The Brownhills project comes after other works have been on-going off Brownhills High Street, at the junction of Lindon Road, for sewer connection works. It has caused delays over the last week but is expected to be completed today.

A scheme to install new traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing on the A5 between Brownhills and Cannock is also due to be fully completed this week.

Meanwhile work in Stallings Lane, Kingswinford, which was due to finish yesterday after six weeks, is now expected to be completed by Wednesday.

Severn Trent engineers say they have encountered problems that have caused delays to the work.
