A moped rider was taken to hospital after being hit by a bus in Hednesford.

The 17-year-old suffered a shoulder injury after colliding with an Arriva bus on the junction of Pye Green Corner and Broadhurst Green. He was taken to Stafford Hospital as a precaution after the accident at 9.20am yesterday.

Residents are now calling for something to be done about the junction.

Eyewitness Ed Grimley, who owns Towner Garage on the junction, said: "People on the bus helped him and we rang 999. It is a really dangerous junction."

Amarjee Kaur, owner of Rose Cottage Newsagents, said: "It is such a dangerous junction and I'm surprised there are not more fatalities. There is all talk about things getting done but nothing ever happens."

Councillor George Adamson said the road was officially classed as "quiet and underused" so no action had yet been taken. But he said an uncoming housing development by St Modwen's would bring improvements.

On the same stretch of road in July, 23-year-old Luke Porta of The Meadows, Cannock, lost his life after his Renault Clio hit a tree.
