Sir Trevor Brooking will officially open new £1.15 million facilities at a junior football club in South Staffordshire, it was announced today.

The former England international and current director of football development at the FA will officially open Wyrley Junior Football Club's new base on September 3.

A new clubhouse, changing rooms and four pitches have been created at the club in Long Lane, Essington, with the help of a £918,000 grant which has come from the Football Foundation.

Brooking will perform the opening ceremony at 10.30am.

"The opening of this facility is fantastic for Wyrley Juniors Football Club and the local community," he said.
