Thousands of people descended on Sandwell Valley Showground to enjoy a fun-filled day with thrilling shows, tasty treats and a host of activities for all the family.

The sun shone for the first day of the Sandwell Community Show and visitors were able to enjoy all that it had to offer without the need for an umbrella. The fun was continuing for a second day today.

Throughout yesterday, shows in the main arena included Steve 'Showtime' Colley who wowed the crowds with his daring motorbike tricks, whilst the Rockwood Dog Display Team treated the audience to a demonstration of the skill, agility and courage of their four-legged friends.

Children also enjoyed the funfair and the wide variety of rides and slides in the showground.

Stuart Smith and his brother James had brought their families along to the show.

The father-of-three from Harborne said: "We came down here for a family day out and there is so much going on. The children have already been on the elephant and caterpillar rides and we haven't been here that long.

"Steve Colley is amazing we couldn't believe that he was commentating whilst doing the tricks."

Luci and Anthony Wells who work at Community Transport in Great Bridge had brought their daughters Lauren aged eight, and Caitlyn, aged 16 months along to join in the fun.

Mrs Wells who lives in Netherton said: "Lauren has already been on the climbing wall, met the clown and we have been to the fun fair.

"We couldn't believe how much there is here."
