A £5,000 reward has been put up to help track down three burglars who conned their way into murder victim Hester Mottershead's home.

A £5,000 reward has been put up to help track down three burglars who conned their way into murder victim Hester Mottershead's home.

Detectives revealed they are also examining logs of similar incidents across Staffordshire, the West Midlands and West Mercia to try to find any links with other distraction burglaries.

Miss Mottershead, who was known by her middle name Estella, collapsed minutes after reporting the raid at her home, in Tettenhall, Wolverhampton.

Detectives also revealed more tests will be done after a post mortem carried out yesterday was inconclusive.

They believe the 90-year-old former headmistress suffered a stroke shortly after the thieves left her home, in Saxonfields, on Friday afternoon. A murder inquiry was launched when she died the next day.

The £5,000 reward from crime fighting charity Crimestoppers will go to anyone who provides evidence which leads to a conviction.

DCI Wayne Jones urged the raiders to hand themselves in. "They need to come forward – or we will be coming for them.
