An annual festival of horses that attracts thousands of visitors to a farm near Bewdley has become the latest victim of the recent heavy rain.

The ninth annual Trimpley Heavy Horse Festival, featuring the rare Suffolk Punch breed, was due to take place on Sunday but has been cancelled.

Organiser Mike Clarke said it was a "tough decision" but explained the ground at Holbeache Farm was still too wet for the long grass to be cut.

He said: "Although the sun is shining this week it will take a good week of dry weather to dry the long grass out on the fields. Until the grass is completely dry we are unable to cut it."

It comes just days after the Trimpley Steam and Vintage Rally at Bite Farm was called off.
