A flood warning has been issued for the River Sow in Stafford. Bosses at the Environment Agency have put the warning on the area of the river close to Tixall.

Water levels have risen due to the recent torrential rain.

Although the level of the river peaked early yesterday, environment chiefs say it is now falling as a result of no rain yesterday afternoon.

Stafford has been hit hard by the bad weather. As well as flooded roads and a petrol station forecourt, events have had to be rearranged at the last minute.

A party in the park celebration due to take place in Victoria Park had to be moved to the town centre due to sodden ground.

The annual duck race was also postponed. Roads including Lichfield Road between Sandon and Weston were flooded.

Meanwhile, in Streetly, a picnic event in Blackwood Park was axed.
