Residents in a Staffordshire town are being asked to help secure £2 million of funding to transform Hednesford Park.

People in Hednesford are being invited to share memories and stories of the town's park as Cannock Chase Council is submitting a bid in August for £2m of Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund cash to fund major improvements to the park and war memorial.

If the bid is successful the plan would result in new play facilities, restored railings, gates and pillars and improved access.

As part of the bid, memories and stories are needed from local people about the history of the park.

Project research officer Julie Shires was hosting a session at Bella's Coffee House, in Market Street, from 2pm until 4pm today.
