Government Minister Eric Pickles today signalled the start of the demolition of Kidderminster's landmark British Sugar silos.

The two 80 metre high silos will soon be reduced to rubble to pave the way for development of the 67 acre former sugar beet factory site.

Despite the torrential rain there was a mood of optimism for the development of South Kidderminster Enterprise Park.

At the Stourport Road site, Mr Pickles discussed future plans for the area – including the planned Hoobrook link road – with local business leaders Wyre Forest District Council Leader John Campion and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership representatives.

A Local Development Order has been drawn up to speed up plans.
