Private operator NCP has announced a new £3 all-day fare and free Sunday spaces at its Freer Street site in a bid to help draw shoppers in.
Walsall transport councillor Tom Ansell said he was aware of the fare changes at the NCP and is now planning fresh talks with officers over council-owned sites.
He said they would look to see if they can be competitive but any recommendations would need to be considered by the decision-making cabinet. They are already due to review the discount four-hour stay fares brought in by the council for a trial.
"We have got to consider everything for the good of the town, I will have a look at it and discuss it with officers. If we have to compete we have to compete. Whatever they are offering we will look at," Councillor Ansell said.
NCP said it wanted to support businesses and retailers, while providing affordable spaces for workers and shoppers. Controversial Sunday parking charges were introduced at council car parks in Walsall almost three years ago.
