A man was airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries after being knocked down by a car in South Staffordshire.

The pedestrian was hit in Bridgnorth Road, Trescott, near Wolverhampton, at about 1.30pm yesterday.

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: "He was given pain relief at the scene and airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further assessment."
