A nest of rare peregrine falcon chicks was attacked at a quarry in Staffordshire.

Police are now investigating after intruders tried to steal or kill three of the birds.

The incident caused the birds to scatter at the unnamed site. Raiders are thought to have struck between 6pm on Monday and 8am on Tuesday. RSPB staff found the birds and returned them, but investigations are continuing.
