Two men claiming to be police officers forced their way into the home of a 91-year-old woman in Stourbridge before stealing £5 from her handbag.
The pensioner, who lives in the Amblecote area, had refused to let the robbers in when they first knocked on her door.
But one of the men took hold of the woman's wrists and forced their way inside before grabbing the cash.
The intruders then fled through the back door and jumped over the garden fence before the widow alerted neighbours who then called the police.
The woman escaped serious injury but suffered significant bruising in the attack and has been left severely traumatised by the robbery, which happened at around 8pm on Wednesday last week.
Detectives investigating the crime will be visiting the area tonight in a bid to jog the memory of potential witnesses. Officers are also trawling through CCTV.
