Arrest is made over robbery at Burntwood bookmakers

A man has been arrested following a robbery at a bookmakers in Burntwood.

The raid, in which a man entered the betting shop and threatened a male member of staff with a knife, took place at Ladbrokes in Cannock Road, Sankeys Corner.

A 50-year-old has now been arrested in the Smethwick area on suspicion of robbery.

He was taken to Burton upon Trent police station for questioning.

Cash was stolen during the robbery, which happened at 9.15pm on Thursday. The robber fled and no-one was physically injured.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the robbery, which they described as a rare incident, to contact them.
