A woman suffered leg injuries when she, her father and another man fell into an 8ft deep disused water tank near Halesowen.
The 35-year-old, named locally as Sally Williams, is believed to have been helping her father, David Williams cut down a 60ft tall tree on a neighbour's land when the concrete tank they were standing on crumbled.
Miss Williams was stuck in the empty water tank until being freed by firefighters.
She was helping her father and another man chop back the tree which was over-hanging from a public footpath onto neighbour Derek Mills's land in Romsley.
"When I went up there all three had fallen in the tank," he added. "I don't know how they had get out but Sally had broken her leg."
Miss Williams was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham after the drama, which happened at 3.30pm yesterday.
