An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a collision with a car in Halesowen. He was given emergency treatment at the scene.

An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured in a collision with a car in Halesowen. He was given emergency treatment at the scene.

The youngster, who lives in Halesowen, suffered serious abdominal, pelvic and shoulder injuries, as well as a large number of grazes.

The accident happened in Carters Lane at 4.45pm yesterday.

Carters Lane was closed by police until 7.30pm to allow the air ambulance to land near Howley Grange Road and for officers to carry out investigations.

Ambulance service spokesman John Hawker said: "Crews arrived to find a young boy that had been in a serious collision with a car.

"The boy suffered serious abdominal, pelvic and shoulder injuries and received emergency treatment at the scene. Unfortunately, the boy had also suffered a large number of abrasions in the incident.

"The boy's condition was stabilised and he was airlifted to Birmingham Children's Hospital."

Police spokesman Brigg Ford said: "His condition is not life threatening or changing. We have spoken to witnesses who saw the incident and are continuing our investigation."

The driver of the car, a 42-year-old woman, was checked at the scene by ambulance crews but did not need hospital treatment.
