Cancer screenings hit by fault at Stourbridge hospital
Breast screening appointments may have to be cancelled due to a technical fault in a mobile unit at a Black Country hospital.
Breast screening appointments may have to be cancelled due to a technical fault in a mobile unit at a Black Country hospital.
The facility at the Corbett Hospital in Stourbridge could not used from 9.30am yesterday.
Some 17 appointments during the rest of the day had to be cancelled but women were offered a same-day screening at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.
Bosses say the unit is not likely to be fixed until Tuesday morning at the earliest.
Paula Clark chief executive of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: "Women whose scans had to be cancelled as a result were offered an alternative same day examination at Russells Hall Hospital or the opportunity to re-book an appointment at Corbett Hospital once the scanner is in working order."
She said women who are booked for an examination in the mobile scanner over the next few days should phone the Breast Screening Office on 01384 244177.
