Fire hits Penkridge farmland

Piles of wood and pallets went up in flames on farmland in Penkridge today.

Four fire crews battled the flames in Lower Drayton Lane.

Firefighters from Cannock, Stafford, Rising Brook and Penkridge were called to the scene just before 4am.

Gary Fox, watch manager at Stafford fire station, said: "It was quite a large pile of wood but luckily the fire was located at one end so we were able to isolate it."
