It is the first time she has ever entered a pageant, and it has assured her a place in the final of the Miss England competition to be held in Leicester on June 26. Nikki, from West Bromwich, is studying psychology at Stafford University.

She was presented with the crown by last year's winner, Roshni Pink, of Wolverhampton.

"I was absolutely overwhelmed when my name was read out. I have never entered a competition like this before," Nikki said.

Second place went to 22-year-old Jennifer Dunn, who lives in Oldbury and works at Snippers Hairdressers, in Kingswinford.

She is also in with a chance of competing in Miss England after securing a place in the semi-finals.
