Detectives were today trying to trace the two men behind the robbery at the Co-op store, in Chesyln Hay.
Two shoppers were also in the High Street store.
The men entered the store just after 10pm on Thursday and left towards Cross Street.
The two offenders are described as being between 20 and 30-years-old.
One was white, of large build and around 6ft tall. He wore dark bottoms, a black coat, a black woolly hat with a motif in the centre, black gloves and had a black scarf.
Police say the second was possibly Asian.
He was shorter in height than the first man and of a slim build. He wore dark bottoms, a dark grey coat with a light grey hood, black gloves and had his face covered with either a scarf or a balaclava.
Both men also wore black rucksacks.
Dc Christopher Lovatt, investigating officer, said: "Although no vehicles were seen we cannot discount the possibility the offenders may have had one parked nearby.
"There were two customers who entered the store whilst the offenders were at the back of the store. The suspects stole a large amount of coins."
