Two men have each been jailed for almost two years for a street robbery in Staffordshire.

Duane Gair and Nathan Moore committed the crime in the Stowe Pool area of Lichfield after targeting two men walking home from a shopping trip at a nearby supermarket.

Gair and Moore confronted the two men, aged 22 and 20, who had been to the Tesco store, pinning them against railings and demanding property from them.

They escaped with a mobile phone from one and punched the other man in the face.

He escaped with minor facial injuries which did not need hospital treatment.

The incident happened on February 10 at around 2.45am.

The two were arrested later that morning at Moore's house in Paul's Walk, Lichfield.

They were subsequently charged with robbery, which they both admitted.

At Stafford Crown Court 21-year old Moore was jailed for 24 months, and Gair, 22, of Dimbles Lane, Lichfield, was handed a 20-month prison sentence. Inspector Jed White,

Lichfield Local Policing Team Commander, said: "Gair and Moore are serving significant sentences for their serious crimes.

"Our officers arrested them within hours of the robbery and a thorough investigation followed.

"We treat robbery, which can be terrifying for victims, and other violent crime extremely seriously.

"Recent figures show that violent crime with injury fell by over 10 per cent in the Lichfield area last year.

"We're committed to continuing this downward trend."
