A fire-ravaged school in Bilston will be rebuilt after councillors gave the multi-million pound plan the nod.

Wilkinson Primary School will accommodate an extra 105 pupils under the £8.2million rebuild. Work will start this summer.

Wolverhampton City Council's planning committee approved the project yesterday. The school was destroyed in an arson attack in October 2010. No-one has ever been caught.

School governor Councillor Steve Simkins said: "The school will be rebuilt, and it will be bigger than before with a two-form entry.

"It will be fantastic to get the children out of the temporary huts they have been using."

The school's 347 pupils have been using 16 mobile buildings installed on the site.
