Gunshots were fired in a Wolverhampton street yesterday – the eighth shooting incident in the city since February.
Police were called to Chetton Green, Fordhouses, at 2.30pm following reports of a firearm being discharged. No-one was injured.
Residents today told of hearing a series of loud bangs coming from the direction of the incident, near to the Starling Court block of flats.
One man, who asked not to be named, said a group of men were painting fences outside the flats when shots were fired.
He said: "After the bangs I saw some lads running to get behind some cars. Someone shouted 'Someone is shooting at us, someone is shooting at us'."
Police yesterday cordoned off a section of Chetton Green and officers made house to house inquiries.
Police said it was not yet known whether the shooting was connected to others in recent weeks caused by tensions between gangs.
