A man was today recovering in hospital after being attacked with a knife in his Wolverhampton home.

Neighbours reported hearing "screaming and shouting" coming from the house in Cadle Road, Bushbury, before police and paramedics turned up and rushed the 34-year-old to New Cross Hospital.

The victim, believed to live with his wife and three children, had suffered stab wounds to his arm.

A woman, also aged 34, was today being questioned by officers after being arrested on suspicion of assault.

A police cordon was in place until shortly after 9am today while forensics teams combed the house for evidence. Officers were called to the house at around 10.40pm yesterday.

A neighbour who did not wish to be named said: "I heard arguing and fighting with a lot of shouting and screaming, and then I heard someone say something about a knife. I was just about to call the police when they arrived."
