Fire chiefs have earmarked four potential sites for the new fire station to cover the Cradley Heath and Halesowen area.

A list of sites was whittled down to four in the private session of the West Midlands Fire and Rescue Authority meeting.

But chairman of the meeting, Sandwell Councillor John Edwards, said he could not reveal the locations of the sites due to commercial reasons.

He said a final decision on where the new fire station will be based will be made within three months.

This comes after fire chiefs approved plans to buy a site to build the £3 million state-of-the-art fire station.

Halesowen fire station was closed last month, and firefighters redeployed to other stations. Currently crews in Cradley Heath are covering both areas.

Councillor Edwards said: "We have now got four potential sites that we are focused on. For each of them we will undertake detailed surveys and will be talking to council planners, developers and other parties."
