Thousands of counterfeit DVDs were seized when police and trading standards officers swooped on a car boot sale in Staffordshire.

Around 10,000 illegal discs were recovered from the sale in Pouk Lane, Muckley Corner, near Lichfield. A small amount of tobacco was also seized.

Pc Steve Stackhouse said today: "This seizure is another example of our determination that such events should be enjoyed in a lawful and safe manner."

No arrests were made during the sting operation on March 31, days after more than £100,000 of counterfeit goods were seized at a car boot sale in Featherstone.

The fake goods, netted at a car boot sale in Dark Lane, Featherstone, included 6,000 DVDs, 300 bottles of perfume and aftershave, 75 pairs of sunglasses, 350 items of clothing and 2,000 packets of cigarettes.

A man was arrested and bailed in connection with the haul.
