Ex-Tipton Town FC chief admits further charges

Former Tipton Town FC chairman and serial fraudster Bill Williams has admitted further fraud and deception offences totalling more than £136,000, it can be revealed today.

The 59-year-old is currently serving a five-and-a-half year prison term for pocketing more than £276,000 from the life insurance and pension policies of murdered Wolverhampton father Andrew Diack.

But following his conviction last year, a raft of people came forward and contacted police to say they believed they too had been duped by him.

At Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday, Williams admitted eight charges of obtaining £118,500 from John Munning and Niall Peace by deception. He took payments from both men, claiming that he would invest their money.

He also admitted three further charges of fraud by false representation totalling £18,000 after taking the cash from Russell Orme and telling him the money would be invested.

Williams also pleaded guilty to charges of failing to disclose bank and building society accounts in his name after being declared bankrupt, one of making a false statement under oath in that he denied he owed Mr Munning almost £170,000 and one of failing to deliver records of his estate after being made bankrupt.

Father-of-two Williams, of Chester Road, West Bromwich, was jailed last year for taking cash owed to the daughter of murdered South Staffordshire company director Mr Diack.

Mr Diack had formed the policies on the advice of Williams, who worked as an accountant for Featherstone-based Spray Tanker Services, which 29-year-old Mr Diack co-owned.

Williams spent the cash on family holidays to the USA, season tickets at Aston Villa and lavish family parties. He will be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on May 2.
