The swimming pool at Wolverhampton Central Baths will remain closed for the next two months, it was announced this afternoon.

Council bosses have decided to completely retile the pool after slates came loose from the side and the floor. The facility has been shut since February 20.

Specialist contractors will now be brought in to retile the 22-year-old pool's tank.

Rob Willoughby, Wolverhampton City Council's assistant director for leisure and communities, said: "Though this will be a larger and therefore more time-consuming job than was originally envisaged, it will be worth it as it will extend the pool's lifespan by a quarter of a century and therefore offer greater value for money and greater benefits to our customers in the years to come."
