Britain's Got Talent organist Jean Martyn told of her love for her mother in a special Songs of Praise.

The 60-year-old grandmother from Brewood, who inspired millions of viewers during her performances on the talent show, also spoke of her love for music and playing the organ in church.

But her most moving words during last night's show came when she spoke to presenter Aled Jones about the death of her mother Phyllis Waterson.

She said: "It's the first Mother's Day without my mum. I just feel I know she's at peace now.

"I know the Lord has got her, and I am at happy and at peace with myself."

Jean also talked about the evening her mother died. She was performing on tour at Wembley Arena and about to go on stage when she called home.

"I rang home and my son said 'Mum, she's just gone'. It was so moving," she said.

"I gave the performance of my life."
